Our client operates a successful business in the agricultural sector and has an exciting opening for an experienced Financial Controller to join their team and lead the finance function.

This role will suit a finance professional who is experienced in multi-company consolidations and loves the challenge of tackling system and process improvements in a company that has enjoyed recent rapid growth.

 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the core responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of all aspects of the company’s finance function
  • Leading a team of experienced accounting and payroll staff
  • Working closely with farm managers and contract milkers to enable them to run better businesses through reporting, analysis, insights, and recommendations you will provide
  • Improving processes and identifying and implementing efficiencies to 1reduce time spent on compliance tasks
  • Identify, implement and monitor cost saving opportunities
  • Day to day and monthly cashflow management
  • Management of multiple bank accounts
  • Review and sign off of balance sheet reconciliations and journals
  • Providing accurate and timely Monthly, Quarterly and Year End consolidations and statutory accounts
  • Budgeting and forecasting in conjunction with other management staff
  • Co-ordinate the annual audit process
  • Bank covenant reporting

 

Must-haves:

  • Accounting qualifications and proven experience in a similar position
  • Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis
  • Strong knowledge of accounting programs
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to pick up on anomalies in data
  • A desire to investigate the root cause of issues and resolve permanently rather than relying on quick fixes
  • A passion for process improvement and utilising technology as an enabler
  • Proven ability in leadership roles – able to engage, support, and motivate a team as well as supporting the development of the team members to fulfil their potential
  • A down-to-earth, supportive team player who will do what is needed to get the job done
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to relate to stakeholders at all levels of the business

 

Desirables:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent
  • An understanding of, or experience working in, the farming/agricultural sector
  • Experience in implementing ERP systems and related tools
  • Experience in creating and running PowerBI reports
