Our client operates a successful business in the agricultural sector, and due to the impending retirement of a key staff member, they have an exciting new opening for an experienced Group Management Accountant to join their team.

If you are someone who likes to get in, roll your sleeves up, and make a positive contribution to the continued success of a business, a place in this family-owned and operated company could be just what you are looking for. This role will suit a detail-focused finance professional who loves a challenge and is looking for an opportunity to make their mark.

Core duties and responsibilities of the role include working with journals, fixed assets, aged debtors, GST processing, balance sheet reconciliation, and preparation of year-end tax returns for the external accountants. You will also get involved in reporting, budgets, and forecasting, plus a range of other functions to ensure the business operates at optimum efficiency. There is scope to develop this role and really make it your own by stretching into other areas, depending on your skills and experience. Experience in a multi-entity accounting environment would be an advantage.

So, who and what are we looking for?

  • Accounting degree and proven experience in the finance sector desirable (or equivalent on-the-job experience)
  • Experience in a multiple-entity accounting environment
  • Advanced skills in Excel are a must for this role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting programs
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to pick up on anomalies in data
  • A down-to-earth, supportive team player who will do what it takes to get the job done
  • Proven consistency in previous jobs and looking for a long-term career opportunity

Other important skills and attributes:

  • Strong tech skills with the desire and ability to be involved in new systems implementations and become a system superuser
  • Agile and open to change, including process improvements
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to provide support and guidance to team members

  • An understanding of the New Zealand dairy/farming sector would be a significant advantage

  • A competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate
  • Applicants must have the right to legally work in New Zealand at the time of applying
  • Visa sponsorship for overseas candidates is not available
